Job Specification: Business Development Manager

Our client is a leading Design & Contracting project engineering company, specializing in the facilitation of projects within the fields of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering. Their Head Office is based in Port Elizabeth, South Africa and they have two branch offices situated in Durban and Pretoria.

We are searching for a dynamic candidate who is technically qualified and who has the relevant experience to market our company’s value proposition to our required target market, within the various regions. The candidate must have previous experience in Sales and Marketing with specific exposure to the personal selling process.

 

Position Title: Business Development Manager

Reports to: Managing Director

Position Objective: The applicant will be responsible for the business-to-business marketing of the company to its target markets throughout South Africa, focusing specifically on the Eastern Cape, Gauteng and Kwa Zulu Natal regions. The specific role of the applicant is to develop the company’s business on a national basis with the clear objective of increasing market share and acquiring new business.

 

Qualifications and experience:

  • Degree or Equivalent: Engineering
  • Past experience in the industry is vital
  • At least 5 years’ experience in business-to-business marketing and sales

 

Responsibilities:

  • Implementation of the company’s business development activities in accordance with a marketing plan and company objectives;
  • Meet with existing and potential customers on a regular basis with the clear goal of obtaining Request For Quotations (RFQ’s);
  • Creation and publication of all marketing material in line with marketing plans;
  • Monitor and report on the effectiveness of marketing communications;
  • Maintain effective internal communications to ensure that management are informed of progress on business development activities;
  • Creating a wide range of different marketing materials;
  • Maintenance of a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system;
  • Oversee publications on the company’s various social media platforms;
  • Research competitors, trends and products as and when required;
  • Proactively research and identify various marketing opportunities; and
  • Must be willing to travel.

  • Proficient in MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, and MS Outlook

Package:

  • Annual TCTC remuneration package: R 500,000, plus performance incentive
